Reklaw is by far my favorite fly-in. I have been 5
times now in the last 8 or 9 years. It has
become a yearly event and I only miss it when I
must. The last couple of years have seen more
than 400 general aviation airplanes per fly-in, and
lots of fun and relaxation. If you want to
camp out, see a whole bunch of really neat
airplanes, and visit old friends, this is the place
to be. Don't believe me about how nice
it is? Give it a try, I am sure you will
agree. |

The Reklaw Fly-In is scheduled to
be held on the 4th weekend of October every year.
At last report, this year is no exception. The
Fly-In officially starts on Friday but many show up
on Thursday, in an effort to get a good parking
spot. In all honesty, if the weather
cooperates, all of them are good because there will
be airplanes everywhere you look. |
|
The
Flying M Ranch Fly-In/Camp Out is hosted by the
Pineywoods EAA
Chapter 972 and also includes the South Central
Cub Migration. The Flying M Ranch is located
at 17643 State Hwy. 204 E. Reklaw, TX 75784.
The hosts of this event, Dave and Marcia Mason are
some of the nicest people you could ever want to
meet.

The meals are catered and for
nominal charge, you can forget about having to pack
food or drink. In the past, meals were served
from Friday evening through Sunday morning.
Motels are typically available in nearby Rusk and
Jacksonville, Texas for those that do not wish to
camp out. I am told that these rooms fill
quickly!
A shuttle bus has been
available in the past to assist in getting people to
and from area hotels. |
|
This is by far the best fly-in we go to. In 2007, it was reported that over 450 aircraft showed up in the Piney Woods
of East Texas for this annual gathering. I am happy to say that we were two of them.
If you want fellowship, a relaxed atmosphere and lots of aviation, then this is a fly in that you should not miss.
