First Designed in 1941, the Woodman’s Pal has been included in military and civilian survival kits ever since.  Originally called the LC-14-B by the U.S. military, the Woodman's Pal is now referred to as "Survival Tool Type IV".  The U.S. Army even commissioned a booklet called "Fighting with the Woodman’s Pal" to instruct soldiers on the method of it’s use in hand to hand combat. 

Whatever you call it, the Woodman's Pal Tool is a tough, no nonsense piece of essential survival gear.  The Woodmans Pal is made of specially annealed 1/8" thick steel. The Woodmans Pal Tool is then hardened to Rockwell C-47 and has a resin bonded fluorocarbon coating to prevent corrosion.

The Model #284 Woodmans Pal Tool is 17" in length and includes the leather grip and finger guard.  This Woodman's Pal is the same version that the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marines currently purchase.

Choose between a black cordura sheath with a honing stone or a leather sheath.  The manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty.

Both Woodman's Pal Tools provide great momentum and fine balance and are recommended for all around cutting and chopping of brush up to a 3 inch diameter.

WOODMAN'S PAL® Features

  • (1) The specially annealed, 1/8" thick, high carbon steel blade (hardened to Rockwell C47) will not crack or chip even in sub-zero temperatures.

  • (2) The concave axe blade is convex ground for extreme strength and offers superior edge holding capabilities. The blade will cut wood up to 1 1/2" in diameter with a single stroke.

  • (3) The chisel sharp sickle hook slices through stubborn vines and briers, and removes unwanted sprout growth at ground level.

  • (4) The line of balance runs precisely from the grip through the sickle edge creating a natural momentum for efficient, accurate, and comfortable swinging motion.

  • (5) Resin bonded fluorocarbon coating prevents corrosion.

  • (6) The safety toe extending one inch up the axe side of the tool reduces risk of deflective injuries.
