Chlor Floc Water Purification
Chlor Floc Water Purification Powder not only disinfects naturally polluted water but also clarifies it. Eliminating Giardia, Bacteria and Viruses, Chlor Floc Water Purification Powder is one of the more effective water treatment solutions on the market today. Chlor Floc is currently in use by the U.S. Army just for that reason. It carries an NSN (National Stock Number) of 6850-01-582-5270. Each Package contains 30 packets of fast acting powder. This is enough to treat 30 liters (33 quarts) of polluted water. One 600 mg packet provides 1.4% available chlorine and fluculating agents for the clarification and disinfection of 1 liter of water from polluted sources at temperatures of 77 degrees Fahrenheit. At colder temperatures, two packets are recommended.
Each package of Chlor-Floc contains 30 packets, enough to treat 33 quarts of polluted water. One 600 milligram packet provides 1.4 % available chlorine and flocculating agents for the clarification and disinfection of 1 liter (about 1.1 quarts) of water from polluted sources at temperatures of 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees c). At 41 degrees F ( 5 C ) two 600 milligram packets will provide 2.8% available chlorine for the same purpose.
Usage Instructions:
1. Add 1 or 2 (600mg) packets to 1 liter (1.1 quart) of water as directed in the table below. Tear one end off packet. Pour powder as shown to ensure that ALL powder is properly dispensed.
2. Shake for 1 minute then leave for 3 minutes. Our Military Issue Canteen is perfect for this task.
3. Swirl for 30 seconds, then wait 7 minutes at temperature of 77 F (25 C) or above, or 15 minutes at colder temperatures as specified below. Then strain through a piece of cotton cloth (eg. T Shirt material) into a clean container.
4. The clarified water is now ready for drinking. If the water is still murky, add an additional one half packet and repeat step 3.
5. Place spent packet in the secondary waste compartment of the included storage pouch as indicated.
Precautionary statements:
Chlor Floc Water Purification Powder/Tablets can cause moderate eye irritation and can be harmful if absorbed through skin. Avoid breathing the dust. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash contaminated clothing before re-use. Prolonged and frequently repeated skin contact may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
CHLOR-FLOC Packets are intended for the clarification and disinfection of polluted or suspected water and to make it bacteriologically safe for drinking when treated as directed. Chlor Floc Water Purification is recommended for use by the military to treat suspected water during field exercises or where municipally treated water is not available.
CHLOR-FLOC contains a combination of flocculating and coagulating agents which promotes rapid formation of a sediment in the treated water. Pollutants, in the form of gross organic matter and microscopic particles, adhere to the sediment by the action of the flocculating and coagulating agents. The sediment with the entrapped pollutants are removed from the clarified water by straining through a piece of cloth. The cloth can be reused after rinsing with clarified treated water. After clarification of the water by separating sediment from the treated water, the chlorine released by the active ingredient is then free to kill Giardia Lamblla (cysts, bacteria, viruses and other harmful micro-organisms) which were not removed with the sediment.

A Note about Dehydration
Water Purification is extremely important, but even more so in a survival situation. Even a mild stomach upset can cause one to lose, thorough the bodies natural defense of regurgitation, valuable nutrients and more importantly, water. This type of sickness causes the loss of energy, concentration and needed body nutrients when they are most needed. Dehydration is a major concern in survival related situation.
Be aware of the symptoms of dehydration. In a survival situation, take every precaution to prevent this. This includes items like rationing water, making the location of water that can be purified a priority, not working more than is absolutely necessary and traveling during cooler temperatures. Even the smallest changes can save your life, as it relates to the prevention of dehydration.
Some important symptoms to note are: dry and/or sticky mouth, sleepiness, thirst, decreased urine output, few or no tears when crying, dry skin, headache, constipation and dizziness. Some symptoms of severe dehydration, which is classified as a medical emergency, include: extreme thirst, extreme irritability and confusion, very dry mouth, lack of sweating, little or no urination, sunken eyes, shriveled and dry skin, low blood pressure, rapid heart beat, rapid breathing, fever and delirium or unconsciousness.
